At
the same time, to finance her education she worked at Concordia University
and raised a family as well. In 1982 Ann moved to Montpellier in the
south of France where her husband, a pharmacologist worked. She threw
herself into the Provencal light and her painting career was born.
Plein air painting and sketching was at her fingertips. Markets and
mountains, seascapes and villages were within a few minutes reach.
However, throughout all her travels in Europe and visits to its countless
museums, her inspiration always came from the Flemish and Dutch masters.
They attracted her like a magnet. Orderly Dutch interiors and still
life with dramatic use of light and shadow effects are her inspiration.
